Template:Realworld Leonard Nimoy: Star Trek Memories is a TV special made in 1983 and aired in 1984. It was hosted by Leonard Nimoy, and featured the actor discussing the making of The Original Series as well as the first two movies, Star Trek: The Motion Picture and Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, and additionally included a small preview of Star Trek III: The Search for Spock.
The documentary ran about 50 minutes, filling in an hour time slot, and was filmed in Boston, Massachusetts at the local Channel 56 facilities. At the time, the channel was part of the Kaiser Broadcasting Group and partly owned by the Boston Globe.
Much of the show featured Nimoy dressed in a sport coat and jeans and standing in front of a star field talking. Clips from the original show and the first two movies were shown throughout the course of the show. At the end of the documentary, Nimoy was asked if Spock would return to life for future movies and he responded by saying "In science fiction, anything can happen!"
This special is often included in syndication packages to bring the total number of episodes for The Original Series to eighty - airing between the last episode, "Turnabout Intruder" and the first episode, "The Man Trap", in most markets.
- Though "The Man Trap" was the 6th episode produced, it was the first aired, so most syndication packages retain the original airing order instead of the production order, which would place "Where No Man Has Gone Before" as the first episode.
