Leonard the iguana

Leonard lounges on a desk

Leonard was a holographic Iguana created by Doctor Lewis Zimmerman in the mid-2370s. He had the distinct ability to speak, but only repeat what he heard, and in a slow deep voice.

Zimmerman claimed that Leonard was watching his weight, and that Haley should feed the salad to him instead of making him eat it.

In 2376, when The Doctor came aboard, he was annoyed by the numerous animals he'd come across, and deactivated Leonard. (VOY: "Life Line")

It is possible that Leonard was named for either veteran Star Trek actor Leonard Nimoy, or the character Leonard McCoy.
