Lela Dax was a joined Trill and the first host of the Dax symbiont.

Lela was a famous legislator in the Trill government, and one of the first women to be appointed as a council member. Her initiate supervisor was Jobel. (DS9: "Playing God", "Facets")

Lela had a son named Ahjess, who would frequently climb into his mother's bed after being tucked in for the night to get attention. (DS9: "To the Death")

During Jadzia Dax's zhian'tara in 2371, Kira Nerys embodied Lela's memories and personality. Jadzia noted that she picked up her habit of holding her hands behind her back while talking from Lela.
