Lee Delano (19 January 19318 October 2017; age 86) was an actor who portrayed Kalo in the Star Trek: The Original Series second season episode "A Piece of the Action". He filmed his scenes between Thursday 2 November 1967 and Monday 6 November 1967 at Desilu Stage 11 and on location at Paramount's McFadden Street backlot.

Delano graduated from the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theater in New York, where fellow classmates included Steve McQueen and Susan Oliver. After graduation, McQueen convinced Delano to move to Hollywood. In 1968, Delano began a career in improvisational comedy alongside Sid Caesar, and the two performed together on stage and on television around the world. Delano's talent for comedy was further revealed when Caesar's association with comic Mel Brooks led to Delano receiving film roles in Brooks' Silent Movie (1976), High Anxiety (1977), and History of the World, Part I (1981).

Delano also had a few dramatic pieces to his credit, including Report to the Commissioner (1975, with "A Piece of the Action" co-star Victor Tayback) and Executive Action (1973, with Gilbert Green, John Anderson, Paul Sorensen, Ed Lauter, Dick Miller, and Paul Carr).

His other film credits include William Castle's Project X (1968, with Monte Markham, Maryesther Denver, Keye Luke, and Phillip Pine), They Call Me Bruce? (1982, with Vince Deadrick, Jr., Harvey Vernon, Phil Rubenstein, Nick Dimitri, Freddie Hice, Dick Durock, and Ralph Garrett), Splash (1984, with Clint Howard, Patrick Cronin, Charles Macaulay, Valerie Wildman, Christopher Thomas, Jill Jacobson, Bill Smitrovich, and Shecky Greene), and The Birdcage (1996, with Al Rodrigo, Mike Starr, James W. Jansen, Brian Reddy, Herschel Sparber, David Sage, Ann Cusack, Tim Kelleher, and Scott Burkholder). He also appeared in the made-for-TV movies Blood Sport (1973, with William Lucking and Craig Richard Nelson), Lucy Gets Lucky (1975, with Lucille Ball, Joan Swift, Dean Martin, and "A Piece of the Action" co-star Jay Jones), and In the Glitter Palace (1977, with Salome Jens, Robert Sampson, Stanley Kamel, Booth Colman, and Anthony Zerbe), and appeared in episodes of Mission: Impossible, Charlie's Angels, and Taxi (with Christopher Lloyd).

Along with Jack Donner, Delano founded the Oxford Theater in Los Angeles, which also served as an acting school. Their students included Don Johnson, Craig T. Nelson, and Barry Levinson.

Delano died on 8 October 2017 at the age of 86. (SAG-AFTRA Magazine, Summer 2018, p. 49)
