LDS, an abbreviated version of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, more commonly referred to as Mormons, was an Earth religion originating from Utah in the 1830s.

While on Earth in 1986, James T. Kirk attempted to explain Spock's unusual behavior to Gillian Taylor by saying that Spock had used too much LDS during the 1960s while "he was part of the Free Speech Movement at Berkeley". Kirk had intended to say that Spock had used too much of the psychotropic drug LSD.(Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home)
