The L-4 maneuver was commonly referred to in Earth aerobatic maneuvers as an "inside loop", in which a starship pulled upward and moves in a complete circle along the z-axis, coming back to its original trajectory. In July of 2153, the Enterprise NX-01 used the L-4 maneuver inside the thermobaric clouds surrounding the Delphic Expanse to get behind Captain Duras' Bird-of-Prey, allowing them to destroy the enemy vessel.
