Kuri was an officer in the Klingon Defense Force during the late 23rd century. During the late 2260s, Kuri held the rank of commander and served as the commanding officer of a Klingon battle cruiser.

As a product of 22nd century genetic engineering, Kuri was descended from Klingons affected with the Augment virus created in 2154. (ENT: "Divergence")

In 2269, Kuri took part in a mouse trap tactic with the IKS Klothos and another battle cruiser during an attempt to capture the USS Enterprise. After the Klothos disappeared, Kuri contacted the Enterprise and threatened revenge upon it after it appeared the Enterprise had destroyed the other Klingon vessel. (TAS: "The Time Trap")
