The Ketha Province was a lowland area of farming land on Qo'noS. Chancellor Martok was born in the Lowlands of the Ketha Province. (DS9: "Once More Unto the Breach")
In 2259 of the alternate reality, the Ketha Province had become uninhabited. The Starfleet traitor John Harrison fled there via transwarp beaming, after attacking Starfleet Headquarters. Although the crew of the USS Enterprise was ordered to fire seventy-two experimental stealth photon torpedoes on Harrison's location, Captain Kirk chose to arrest Harrison, instead of executing him without trial.
Kirk took a K'normian trading ship down, hoping to quietly extract Harrison from the uninhabited region, but was waylaid by patrolling D4 class ships. Kirk sent Uhura to negotiate, but when the Klingons physically threatened her, Kirk went on the offensive. Harrison immediately showed himself and singlehandedly killed all the Klingons, before surrendering himself into Kirk's custody. (Star Trek Into Darkness)
