Kathleen Garrett is an award-winning actress who appeared twice on Star Trek. She first played a Vulcan captain in the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode "Vortex". Seven years later, she guest-starred in Star Trek: Voyager's "Muse" as Tanis, the stage actor who portrayed Captain Kathryn Janeway.

In 1984 Garrett made recurring appearances on the short-lived HBO comedy series The Investigators, starring Charles Rocket. She later became a regular on The New WKRP in Cincinnati during its first season (1991-92). In 1993 she worked with Christopher Neame and Paul Winfield in the unsold CBS pilot, Irresistible Force.

In addition to her Star Trek appearances, Garrett has guest-starred or co-starred on such shows as Shannon's Deal (with Miguel Ferrer), Matlock (with Mark L. Taylor), Home Improvement, Murder, She Wrote, Murphy Brown (with Wallace Shawn), The John Larroquette Show, Providence (with Nikita Ager, Cristine Rose, and Concetta Tomei), Melrose Place (with James Darren), Without a Trace (starring Enrique Murciano), Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and Shark (starring Jeri Ryan). In 2003, she had a recurring role on the short-lived series Skin. Five years later she appeared as a judge in two episodes of the long-running drama Law & Order.

In addition to television, Garrett continues to work in film, theater, commercials and voice-overs, as well. On film, she was seen in the 1998 independent drama The Souler Opposite and starred in the 2001 short subject Zen and the Art of Landscaping, which won a Short Filmmaking Award at the Sundance Film Festival. Most recently, she played Mrs. Cattano in the in the acclaimed, Academy Award-nominated crime drama American Gangster, which also featured Clarence Williams III.

On the stage, worked with Voyager star Robert Beltran in the latter's 1997 production of William Shakespeare's Hamlet, in which Garrett portrayed Queen Gertrude to critical acclaim. That same year, Garrett won a a Drama-Logue Critics Award for her performance a production of Jean Anouilh's Ardele at the Pacific Resident Theatre in Los Angeles, California.

In 1998, Garrett won several awards, including the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award, for her performance in Jean Cocteau's Indiscretions, again at the Pacific Resident Theatre. Garrett has also won critical acclaim for her performances in productions of William Luce's Zelda: The Last Flapper and Henrik Ibsen's Ghosts.
