Katherine Irene Kurtz (born 18 October 1944; age 67) is a fantasy author who appeared as an Enterprise crewmember in the recreation deck scenes in Star Trek: The Motion Picture. [1]

Kurtz was part of the group of extras which surrounded Dennis Fischer. She stood next to Leigh Strother-Vien, Don Fanning, Bjo Trimble, Kathleen Sky, and Jay Smith.

Born in Coral Gables, Florida, Kurtz graduated with a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Miami. Her first three novels are Deryni Rising, Deryni Checkmate, and High Deryni, which built up the Deryni Chronicles saga and were followed by twelve more Deryni books.

Since 1983 she is married to Scott MacMillan. The couple has one son, Cameron, and is residing in Virginia after they've lived several years in Ireland.
