Kansas was a region located within the interior of the North American continent of Earth. This was a state in the United States of America. This state was bordered by Nebraska to the north, Missouri to the east, Oklahoma to the south, and Colorado to the west. Dodge City, Winfield and Topeka were cities located in this state. The two-letter code for this state was KS. (TNG-R: "The Neutral Zone"; DS9: "Little Green Men"; ENT: "Storm Front", "Storm Front, Part II")

In an alternate timeline in which Nazi Germany had invaded the United States, as of 1944 Kansas was controlled by American forces. (ENT: "Storm Front", "Storm Front, Part II")

In the mid 24th century, a Q named Amanda Rogers was born in Kansas. Her mother and father were murdered by the Q Continuum, who created a tornado which destroyed their home in Topeka. (TNG: "True Q")
