...as Lieutenant Ballard

Judyann Elder (born 1948) is an actress who portrayed Lieutenant Ballard in the Star Trek: The Next Generation third season episode "The Offspring" in 1990.

Born as Judith Ann Johnson in Cleveland, Ohio, Elder is divorced from late writer and Academy Award nominee Lonne Elder III, with whom she has two children.

She made her debut as a barmaid in 1968 in the television series N.Y.P.D. (Robert Hooks was a regular). Since then she appeared in television series such as The Streets of San Francisco (1973, with Tony Young), Wonder Woman (1978), V (1985, with Duncan Regehr, Judson Scott, Bruce Davison, Jeff Kober, and Robert Hooks), Murphy Brown (1991-1992, with Paul Carr and John Hostetter), Beverly Hills, 90210 (1994, with Stephanie Beacham, F.J. Rio, and Cress Williams), Mad About You (1996-1999, with Anne Ramsay, John Gegenhuber, and Suzie Plakson), Becker (2001, with Terry Farrell and Kenneth Mars), ER (2004, with Mädchen Amick, Louise Fletcher, and Scott Grimes), and Navy NCIS (2006, with Wayne Pere).

Her most memorable role was the part of Harriette Winslow in Family Matters which she took over from actress JoMarie Payton. She only played the character in a handful of episodes in the final season since it was deemed unnecessary to explain the character's death or divorce with so few episodes remaining.

Among her resume are films such as Melinda (1972, with Allen Pinson, and Chuck Hicks), Those She Left Behind (1989, with Joel Polis, George Coe, and David Selburg), Forget Paris (1995, with Clint Howard, Tom Wright, and stunts by Simone Boisseree), The Player's Club (1998, with Annie O'Donnell and Ray Uhler), and Hope (2003).

As a voiceover actress, Elder has lent her voice to projects such as the television series Potsworth & Co. (1990, with Clive Revill and Hamilton Camp) and Captain Planet and the Planeteers (1990-1996, with LeVar Burton, Whoopi Goldberg, and Malcolm McDowell).

On the stage, she has appeared in I Have A Dream (1976) and The Play (2006).
