John Francis Whelpley is a writer who pitched and/or co-wrote two Star Trek episodes. He worked on the teleplay of the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "Suddenly Human" with Jeri Taylor and later pitched and co-wrote the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode "Invasive Procedures" with Robert Hewitt Wolfe.

Whelpley would later work with Wolfe again, writing several episodes of Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda, which Wolfe was the showrunner of for the series' first two seasons. Whelpley also wrote episodes of Earth: Final Conflict, another series which Roddenberry had planned before his death.

Whelpley has also written episodes of Charlie's Angels, Trapper John, M.D., MacGyver, The Outer Limits, Beverly Hills, 90210 and Baywatch.
