John Picacio is a professional artist. Living in San Antonio, Texas, Picacio trained as an architect - earning a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Texas - before his work as an illustrator resulted in his deciding to pursue the career full time.

Picacio's Star Trek work includes the triptych covers of the novel series Crucible and Star Trek: Terok Nor, as well as the cover of the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine novel Fearful Symmetry, and the first two volumes of the Star Trek: Myriad Universes series.
