John Charles Palmer is a special effects technician, coordinator and supervisor who worked for WonderWorks Inc. as special effects coordinator on Star Trek: The Next Generation and as special effects project supervisor on the Star Trek: Voyager pilot episode "Caretaker".

Palmer joined WonderWorks Inc. in the early 1980s and contributed to the fantasy drama Something Wicked This Way Comes (1983), the science fiction film SpaceCamp (1986), the science fiction musical Captain EO (1986, with Harold Weed and George Paine), the television series Pee-wee's Playhouse, the adventure Allan Quatermain and the Lost City of Gold (1986), the science fiction film Project X (1987), the television series Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future (1987-1988), the television horror film Something Is Out There (1988), the fantasy film Moonwalker (1988), the adventure Journey to the Center of the Earth (1989), the science fiction film The Abyss (1989), the science fiction sequel Back to the Future Part II (1989), the drama Grand Canyon (1991), the drama Apollo 13 (1995), the fantasy film Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie (1997), the science fiction sequel Species II (1998), the science fiction films Deep Impact (1998) and Armageddon (1998), and the short film Battlestar Galactica: The Second Coming (1999).

Further credits include the adventure Space Cowboys (2000), the family movie Race to Space (2001), the television series Odyssey 5 (2002, starring Peter Weller) and The Twilight Zone (2002-2003), the science fiction films The Core (2003) and The Day After Tomorrow (2004), the adventure The Astronaut Farmer (2006), and the science fiction thriller Apollo 18 (2011).
