John Maldonado is a makeup artist who worked on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. In 1997 he earned an Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Makeup for a Series for the DS9 episode "Apocalypse Rising" and shared this nomination with Michael Westmore, Camille Calvet, Dean Jones, Mark Bussan, Karen Iverson, Ellis Burman, R. Stephen Weber, David Quashnick, Belinda Bryant, Brad Look, James MacKinnon, Allan A. Apone, Perri Sorel, Mary Kay Morse, Lisa Collins, and Karen Westerfield.

Maldonado was a regular makeup artist on Buffy the Vampire Slayer between 1997 and 1999. For this work he earned two Emmy Award nominations in 1997, for the episode "Welcome To the Hellmouth", shared with Todd McIntosh, and in 1999, for the episode "The Zeppo", shared with Todd McIntosh, Jamie Kelman, Craig Reardon, Ed French, and Erwin H. Kupitz. In 1998 he won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Makeup for a Series for the Buffy episodes "Surprise" and "Innocence" and shared this award with Todd McIntosh, Gerald Quist, Margie Latinopoulos, Dayne Johnson, Craig Reardon, Michael F. Blake, and Mark Shostrom.

In 1989, Maldonado won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Achievement in Makeup for a Drama Series for his work on the soap Santa Barbara, shared with Carlos Yeaggy.

Maldonado worked as makeup artist on the television drama There Were Times, Dear (1985), The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause (2006, with Steven E. Anderson, Allan A. Apone, Belinda Bryant, Laura Connolly, Roxy D'Alonzo, Suzanne Diaz, Kevin Haney, Ruth Haney, Tina Hoffman, Michael Key, Dean Jones, Garrett Immel, Barry R. Koper, Brad Look, Veronica Lorenz, Christopher Allen Nelson, Chris McBee, Michael Moore, Lygia Orta, Joe Podnar, Gerald Quist, Ron Pipes, Toni-Ann Walker, and Tom Woodruff, Jr.), Ocean's Thirteen (2007, with Rita Bellissimo, Mark Garbarino, Marsha Shearrill, Tegan Taylor, and Alicia Tripi), and the television series Knight Rider (2008, along with Allan A. Apone, Adam Brandy, Tina Hoffman, Barry R. Koper, Brad Look, and Lygia Orta) and House (2008).
