John Loprieno (born 7 October 1960; age 63) is the actor who played Obrist in the Star Trek: Voyager fourth season episodes "Year of Hell" and "Year of Hell, Part II".

He filmed his scenes for "Year of Hell" on Friday 15 August 1997 on Paramount Stage 9 and for "Year of Hell, Part II" between Friday 22 August 1997 and Wednesday 27 August 1997 on Paramount Stage 9 and 16. His uniform was later sold off on the It's A Wrap! sale and auction on eBay. [1]

Loprieno is known as a soap actor, beginning with his role as Dan Walton on the daytime soap Search For Tomorrow between 1985 to 1986 where he worked with Robert Curtis Brown and Barbara Luna. He is probably best known for his role as Cordero "Cord" Roberts on One Life To Live where he was a regular between 1986 and 1997 and reprised this role several times until 2011. Beside working with his on-screen "mother", Barbara Luna, he also wrote and directed several episodes and received nominations of the Soap Opera Digest Award in 1988 and Writer's Guild of America and Daytime Emmy Awards in 2006. He also worked with fellow Star Trek alumni Henry Darrow, Dan Gauthier, David Gautreaux, Susan Gibney, Renee E. Goldsberry, Stephen Macht, Colm Meaney, Peter Parros, Alan Scarfe, David Spielberg, Linda Thorson, Connor Trinneer, Kellie Waymire, Doug Wert, and Bridget Ann White.

Beside Star Trek and his work on the daily soaps, Loprieno appeared in the short comedy Prison Life (2000), the crime drama Death of a President (2006, with Michael Reilly Burke and Becky Ann Baker), the drama Half Way (2010, written, directed, and starring Kevin Foster and executive produced by Michael Hugghins), the television comedy Class Act (2014), and the family drama Hamlet's Ghost (2015, with Hélène Udy) on which he also worked as associate producer.

On television, Loprieno guest-starred in episodes of Roseanne (1994), Christy (1995, with LeVar Burton and produced by Michael Ray Rhodes), Sabrina the Teenage Witch (1997), ER (1998, with Sam Anderson, Jenette Goldstein, Lily Mariye, and Cress Williams), and As the World Turns (1999).

Today, Loprieno is working as acting coach and instructor at Moorpark College in Ventura County, California.
