John E. Ferraro is a producer and manager who oversaw the production of Star Trek: The Next Generation for Paramount Pictures. He worked as development executive during the pre-production of The Next Generation and the pilot episode "Encounter at Farpoint" and as production executive during the first season. He was also involved in the casting process during the pre-production. [1]

Ferraro graduated from Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts in 1980 with Bachelors of Science, Mass Communications, Entertainment Business and Production. He started to work for Paramount Television in 1983, first for one year as Story Analyst and then until 1988 as Director of Programming and Development. Beside developing the pilot for The Next Generation, he also worked as development and production executive on the adventure series MacGyver during its first season between 1986 and 1986. Mel Efros worked as producer on the pilot episode as well. Ferraro also reunited the Brady family for the 1988 television special A Very Brady Christmas.

Between 1988 and 2001, Ferraro served as Senior Vice President for Paramount Pictures Acquisitions & Co-Productions. Among his works are the documentary U2: Rattle and Hum (1988), the sport comedy Major League (1989, starring Corbin Bernsen), the thriller A Show of Force (1990), Morgan Freeman's drama Bopha! (1993, starring Alfre Woodard and Malcolm McDowell), the family movie Andre (1994), the crime drama Night Falls on Manhattan (1996), the comedy The Wood (1999), and Spike Lee's documentary The Original Kings of Comedy (2000). Following his leave, Ferraro worked as self-employed photographer, specialized in cover art including celebrity clients such as David Duchovny and Joel West, and founded his own talent managing company, Valleywood Entertainment. As independent producer with John Ferraro Productions, he worked as executive producer on the drama Hard Pill (2005) and as associate producer on the drama Like You Mean It (2014).
