Johann Strauss II was a European composer from 19th century Earth.

Strauss composed several pieces of music, including the waltzes Roses from the South and The Blue Danube.

In 2267, on the planet Gothos, Trelane made Uhura play Roses from the South on his harpsichord. (TOS: "The Squire of Gothos")

In 2374 on Deep Space 9, the four Augments, Jack, Lauren, Patrick, and Sarina Douglas held a party with Doctor Bashir during which they danced to The Blue Danube. (DS9: "Statistical Probabilities")

In late 2377 The Doctor played The Blue Danube in one of his recitals. When he and Captain Janeway were abducted by aliens known as the Hierarchy, The Doctor altered a recording of the waltz so that it would sound out of tune. (VOY: "Renaissance Man")
