James Francis Durante, nicknamed "The Great Schnozzola", was a legendary 20th century jazz musician, and a popular Las Vegas act from the mid-1940s to the mid-1970s. Jimmy was so popular, in fact, he was included in the holosuite program Bashir 62, a 24th century rendition of 1962.

That year, Vic Fontaine interrupted a heart-to-heart he was having with Quark, because he and his lady friend, Ginger, were on their way out to see Pete and Jimmy perform at the Sands Hotel. (DS9: "What You Leave Behind")
