Jim Spencer (22 September 1940 – 28 December 2010; age 70) played an Air Policeman in the Star Trek: The Original Series first season episode "Tomorrow is Yesterday".
Spencer was a member of the US Army Special Forces from 1962-64, before beginning a career as a photographer. Around 1966, he changed his name to James Spencer after briefly working as a model and actor. In addition to his Star Trek role, he also appeared in two episodes of Gilligan's Island (1966-67), and the horror film The Beast of the Yellow Night (1971). In addition to his photography career, Spencer also moonlighted as a CIA contractor through the early 80s.
Spencer was killed in an auto accident.
