[[Category:Star Trek publication editors|Shooter, Jim]]

Revision as of 14:50, 8 April 2007

Template:Realworld Jim Shooter (born 27 September 1951; age 72) was the editor-in-chief at Marvel Comics from 1978 through 1987. During his tenure, the Star Trek license passed from Whitman Publishing to Marvel, and Marvel printed an eighteen issue series of comic books beginning with an adaptation of Star Trek: The Motion Picture.

Interestingly enough, the author of one of the issues, Tom DeFalco, followed Shooter as the editor-in-chief at Marvel when Shooter left the company and moved on to found Valiant Comics. He later moved on and helped found Defiant and Broadway Comics.

Shooter began his career with DC Comics at the age of 13, where he worked primarily as a writer, but also did pencil art, generally for his own scripts.
