Jim Goodwin (21 May 192918 May 1980; age 50) was an actor who played Lieutenant John Farrell in the Star Trek: The Original Series first season episodes "Mudd's Women", "The Enemy Within", and "Miri".

He filmed his scenes for "Mudd's Women" on Thursday 2 June 1966, Friday 3 June 1966, Tuesday 7 June 1966 and Wednesday 8 June 1966. He filmed his scenes for "The Enemy Within" on Thursday 16 June 1966, and his scenes for "Miri" on Tuesday 30 August 1966. He filmed all his scenes for the series at Desilu Stage 9.

Goodwin was a personal friend of Star Trek associate producer / story editor John D.F. Black, who got him his role on the show. Originally, Goodwin (and the character of Farrell) would have appeared in more episodes, but he was written out from both "The Naked Time" (where he was replaced by Kevin Riley (Bruce Hyde)) and "Charlie X". After Black's departure from the series in August 1966, Goodwin left as well. (These Are the Voyages: TOS Season One)

Goodwin's career was a small body of work stretched over almost three decades, from 1950 through 1979. In that time, he had small roles in a small number of films and a large number of television guest appearances. He can be seen in episodes of Perry Mason (with Vic Perrin), The Virginian (with DeForest Kelley, Leonard Nimoy, and Ron Burke), Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea (with Theo Marcuse and Chuck Courtney), The Fugitive (with Roy Jenson, directed by Alexander Singer), Here Come the Brides (starring Robert Brown, David Soul, and Mark Lenard, with William Wintersole, Bill Zuckert, and Noble Chissell), Little House on the Prairie, and CHiPs (starring Robert Pine, with Ellen Geer and Marc Alaimo), among others.

His film credits include Morituri (1965, with Paul Baxley, Gene Dynarski, Roy Jenson, Roy Sickner, and George Takei), Ice Station Zebra (1968, with Joseph Bernard, William O'Connell, Michael Rougas, Lloyd Haynes, Budd Albright, and Lou Elias), and Emperor of the North Pole (1973, with Keith Carradine, Hal Baylor, Elisha Cook, Sid Haig, and Victor Tayback).
