Jerry Lewis, born Joseph Levitch, was a popular 20th century actor and comedian. Early in his career, during the 1940s and 1950s, Lewis worked with singer Dean Martin. He is known for once having "brought down the house at Teaneck."
In 2365, while attempting to learn more about humor, Data was introduced to a comedian referred to as "The Comic". One of the many bits the Comic performed, and encouraged Data to perform along with him, was a classic slapstick humor bit often performed by and associated with Jerry Lewis.
