Jeremy Aster was the son of Starfleet Lieutenant Marla Aster. He was born in 2354 on Earth where he lived with his mother, father and a pet cat named Patches.

In 2366, Jeremy and his mother were residing aboard the USS Enterprise-D, where Marla held the rank of lieutenant and served as an chief archaeologist. While on an away mission to study the homeworld of the now extinct Koinonians, his mother was killed by a remaining Koinonian bomb. Worf felt personally responsible for her death, since he was the leader of the away team. Jeremy blamed Worf and ultimately vented his anger that Worf was alive rather than his mother.

Jeremy's father had died five years earlier, in 2361, from the Rushton infection.

A second species of Koinonians, a race of non-corporeal beings that still existed unknown to the crew of the Enterprise-D, sensed Jeremy's pain and created a replica of his mother. This replica appeared on the Enterprise-D and attempted to take Jeremy back to live on the planet to keep him from suffering the loss of his mother. When Worf discovered Lt. Aster's impostor, she vanished. She later reappeared and transformed Jeremy's room into his home on Earth. Jeremy became confused, and at first wanted to leave with the being, believing that it was his mother. Wesley Crusher, who had lost his father when he was young, with the help of Deanna Troi, Captain Picard and Worf, helped persuade Jeremy to accept his mother's death. In so doing, the Koinonians were convinced that Jeremy's true happiness rested with his fellow Humans and disappeared.

Worf later performed the R'uustai ceremony, making Jeremy a brother and member of his family forever. Jeremy left the Enterprise-D to live with his aunt and uncle on Earth. (TNG: "The Bonding")

Jeremy Aster was played by Gabriel Damon.
According to the novel Genesis Force, Jeremy later became a member of the House of Martok, while in Diplomatic Implausibility he had become close to the Rozhenkos as well.
