Jeff McCarthy is the actor who portrayed Roga Danar in "The Hunted", a third season episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Five years later, he made a second Star Trek appearance, playing the ill-fated original chief medical officer of the USS Voyager in Star Trek: Voyager's pilot episode, "Caretaker".

Outside of Star Trek, McCarthy's television work includes appearances on such shows as The Equalizer (in an episode with Lori Petty), Matlock (with Albert Hall and Wallace Langham), Knots Landing (two episodes: one with Gregory Itzin, another with Biff Yeager), Cheers (co-starring Kirstie Alley, Kelsey Grammer, Bebe Neuwirth, and Paul Willson), Equal Justice (with Cecily Adams), L.A. Law (starring Corbin Bernsen and Larry Drake), Law & Order, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. He also co-starred with Salome Jens, Jack Kehler, and Richard Riehle in the 1989 TV movie Cast the First Stone and appeared with Jim Metzler in the 1990 TV movie Crash: The Mystery of Flight 501. In addition, he was the voice of Michigan J. Frog for the WB network and even voiced the character in a 1995 animated short, Another Froggy Evening.

McCarthy can also be seen in a number of feature films: Robocop 2 in 1990 (co-starring Peter Weller, Bill Bolender, Roger Aaron Brown, Robert DoQui, John Glover, Tzi Ma, Mark Rolston, and Phil Rubenstein), Eve of Destruction in 1991 (with Dakin Matthews, Tom Morga and Voyager's Tim Russ), Rapid Fire in 1992 (with Tzi Ma, John Vickery, and Basil Wallace), and Cliffhanger in 1993 (also featuring Zach Grenier, Bruce McGill and Paul Winfield).
