Imada was born in Inglewood, California and has started studying martial arts at the age of fifteen and has become an instructor and adviser for stars such as Brandon Lee. His first jobs in Hollywood were as a movie extra.

In addition he has also worked for several films as a stunt coordinator and second unit director. In 2008 he was part of the stunt team which received a Screen Actors Guild Award for best film stunt ensemble for the action sequel The Bourne Ultimatum, for which he served as one of the stunt coordinators. Fello Star Trek stuntmen George Colucci, Gilbert Combs, Jeremy Fry, and Chris O'Hara, and stunt coordinators Darrin Prescott and Scott Rogers were also part of the team.
