Cadet Jean Hajar was a member of Starfleet Academy's Nova Squadron in 2368.

Shortly before commencement, on stardate 45703, the Nova Squadron flight team was involved in an accidental collision while practicing maneuvers for the graduation ceremony on the Academy Flight Range near the moons of Saturn. Cadet Joshua Albert was killed in the crash, while the other members of the team, including Hajar, were able to activate their emergency transporters to escape their doomed ships.

Hajar and the other members of Nova Squadron attempted to cover up the fact it was their performing the banned Kolvoord Starburst which resulted in Albert's death by placing the blame for the accident solely on Albert. Wesley Crusher, however, ultimately confessed to their wrong-doing during the resulting inquiry. Team leader Nicholas Locarno took full responsibility for the actions of the Squadron, and Hajar, Crusher, and Sito Jaxa had their academic credits for the past year revoked. (TNG: "The First Duty")
