Jay T. Louden portrayed Liator in the Star Trek: The Next Generation first season episode "Justice". Archive footage of this appearance was later used for the dream sequences in the second season episode "Shades of Gray".

Louden attended the Indiana University in Bloomington between 1973 and 1977 and graduated with a BA in Theatre. The following two years he attended the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco.

Prior to his work on Star Trek, Louden appeared in the family drama A Minor Miracle (1983, with Jeannetta Arnette and David Ruprecht), the television mini-series Celebrity (1984, with Karen Austin, Anne Haney, Jerry Hardin, and Sherman Howard) and Dream West (1986, with Alice Krige, F. Murray Abraham, Fritz Weaver, Anthony Zerbe, Matt McCoy, James Cromwell, and Jonathan Frakes), and in the action thriller Opposing Force (1986, with Anthony Zerbe). He also had guest roles in episodes of Remington Steele (1985, with Bud Davis, Gary Kasper, and Lawrence Tierney), Scarecrow and Mrs. King (1985, with David Orange), and Brothers (1986, with Hallie Todd).

Following his portrayal of Liator, Louden worked on the Jake and the Fatman episode "But Not for Me" (1988, with Geof Prysirr) and on the television drama Laker Girls (1990, with Ken Olandt, Jean Simmons, Renata Scott, and Richard Ryder).

Following his work as an actor, Louden attended the University of California in Irvine between 1994 and 1997 and graduated with a MFA in Directing. He directed productions of professional and educational theatre and was certified by the National Society of Fight Choreographers. Currently Louden is working as assistant professor at the Metro State College of Denver, Colorado, where he's teaching acting techniques and fundamentals of stage combat.
