Jason Otto Kaufman (born 8 August 1961; age 53), nicknamed "Kimba" by close co-workers, is a model maker and prop maker who worked on Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and three Star Trek feature films. He started his association with Star Trek as employee of Greg Jein, Inc. between 1991 and 1994 when he worked as model maker on The Next Generation and Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. In 1998 he created the Spacematic and Class F shuttlecraft model for the Deep Space Nine episode "Trials and Tribble-ations". Kaufman later worked for Digital Domain as miniature model maker on Star Trek Nemesis and in the prop shop of Star Trek.
Prior to his employment at Greg Jein, Inc., Kaufman worked as model architect and engineer for Scale Models Unlimited. He also worked for Boss Film Studios and Galoob Toys and on the comic adaptation Batman Returns (1992), Planet Hollywood, the television series Viper, and the science fiction blockbuster Stargate (1994).
