Jason Kaufman is a model maker and prop maker who worked on Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and three Star Trek feature films. He started his association with Star Trek as employee of Greg Jein, Inc. between 1991 and 1994 when he worked as model maker on The Next Generation and Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. In 1998 he created the Spacematic and Class F shuttlecraft model for the Deep Space Nine episode "Trials and Tribble-ations". Kaufman later worked for Digital Domain as miniature model maker on Star Trek Nemesis and in the prop shop of Star Trek.

Prior to his employment at Greg Jein, Inc., Kaufman worked as model architect and engineer for Scale Models Unlimited. He also worked for Boss Film Studios and Galoob Toys and on the comic adaptation Batman Returns (1992), Planet Hollywood, the television series Viper, and the science fiction blockbuster Stargate (1994). Further credits as model maker include the drama Outbreak (1995), the sequel Batman Forever (1995), the science fiction blockbusters Independence Day (1996) and Starship Troopers (1997), for Grant McCune Designs on the fantasy comedy Mystery Men (1999), the television drama Aftershock: Earthquake in New York (1999), the fantasy film Stuart Little (1999), the crime drama Reindeer Games (2000), the horror film Final Destination (2000), the mystery film The Mothman Prophecies (2002), the fantasy film The Scorpion King (2002), the science fiction film The Core (2003), the comic adaptation X2 (2003, starring Patrick Stewart and Famke Janssen), the television drama 10.5 (2004), the science fiction film The Day After Tomorrow (2004), the comic adaptation Spider-Man 2 (2004), the thriller Flight Plan (2005), the comedy Night at the Museum (2006), the comic adaptation X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), the science fiction thriller Next (2007), the action sequel Live Free or Die Hard (2007), the television series Jericho (2007) and Medium (2007), the action sequel Rambo (2008), the comedy Get Smart (2008), the fantasy film The Last Airbender (2010), the sequel The Dark Knight Rises (2012, starring Tom Hardy), and the science fiction film Battleship (2012).
