Dr. Jaron Summers was an assistant investigator on the medical research team of Dr. Susan Nuress on Oby VI. He helped her in finding a cure for a plasma plague on the planet in the mid-2290s. (TNG: "The Child")
The doctor was never mentioned in dialog; this name came from an etiological report.
The name was a homage to the episode's writer Jaron Summers.
