The Jaradan sector was a region of space controlled by the Jarada. In the mid-24th century, the Jarada were considered of strategic importance to the United Federation of Planets. (TNG: "The Big Goodbye")
The reference to the Jaradan sector was not included in the final draft of the script, but was used in the final airing of the episode. It replaced the Jaradan homeworld, Torona IV, in the script. Torona IV ultimatly did end up making a canon appearance, on a star chart in Star Trek Generations.
