James T. Kirk is a Star Trek fan who legally changed his name to that of the character played by William Shatner in 1974, and who appeared as an Enterprise crewmember in the recreation deck scenes in Star Trek: The Motion Picture. [1] He also appeared as himself in the 1997 documentary Trekkies.
