James Avery (born 27 November 1948; age 75) played General K'Vagh in the season four Star Trek: Enterprise episodes "Affliction" and "Divergence". Nineteen years before his appearance in Enterprise he was alongside Michael Dorn and James Louis Watkins among the finalists for the role of Worf in Star Trek: The Next Generation.

He is perhaps best known as Philip Banks in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. He has also forged a body of work in voiceovers for cartoons. These voiceovers have included Shredder in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and War Machine in the Iron Man and Spider-Man animated series.

Other Star Trek stars to voice characters in the Spider-Man animated series include Don Stark (as Rhino), Peter Mark Richman (as the old Peter Parker), Joseph Campanella (as Curt Connors), John Beck (as The Punisher), Michael Horton (as John Jameson), Majel Barrett (as Anna Watson), Jeff Corey (as Silvermane) and Edward Laurance Albert (as Daredevil).

Avery guest starred on The Real Ghostbusters as the eponymous villain of the episode "Killerwatt". Also featured in that installment were voice acting contributors Frank Welker, Robert Ito, Brian George and Maurice LaMarche.

He guest-starred with Star Trek: Deep Space Nine star Cirroc Lofton in an episode of Soul Food.
