A jalapeño pepper is a small to medium sized chile pepper native to Earth and prized for it spicy flavor.
Jalapeño peppers were a main ingredient in Rodeo Red's Red-Hot, Rootin'-Tootin' Chili. When Neelix made such a chili in 2374, some crewmembers experienced heartburn due to the number of jalapeños in the dish. (VOY: "Message in a Bottle")
