Jaglom Shrek

Jaglom Shrek in 2369

Jaglom Shrek was a Yridian information dealer.

In 2369, Shrek traveled to Deep Space 9 and sold information on the fate of Mogh to Starfleet Lieutenant Worf, son of Mogh. Shrek claimed that Mogh was still alive twenty-five years after the Khitomer Massacre, and transported Worf to a Romulan prison camp in the Carraya sector in his shuttlecraft. However, Mogh was not among the survivors in the prison camp. (TNG: "Birthright, Part I", "Birthright, Part II")

Writer Brannon Braga coined the name "Jaglom Shrek" from Henry Jaglom, an independent film director, and the old Yiddish word for "shriek".
Shrek was played by actor James Cromwell. The role had to be trimmed when Cromwell broke his leg in the break between filming the two parts of "Birthright". (Star Trek: The Next Generation Companion)
The character of Jaglom Shrek was extremely popular with the makeup department for Star Trek: The Next Generation. Stated James Cromwell, "Shrek was one of the makeup department's favorite characters. When I went into makeup on [[[Star Trek: First Contact|Star Trek: First Contact]]], Michael Westmore told me that the guys were all rooting for me to be Shrek!" (Star Trek: Communicator issue 111, p. 68)
