A Klingon jackal is type of Klingon animal native to Qo'noS.
In late 2374, Romulan Senator Letant called General Martok a "Klingon jackal", to which Martok angrily retorted that "this jackal has more courage than the entire Romulan Senate". (DS9: "Tears of the Prophets")
- This animal may actually be in reference to the jackal mastiff that appeared in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. It may have also been the unnamed Klingon animal seen in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock.
