Jack Wilson Jack Palance

...as Jack Wilson

Jack Palance (1919-2006) was a 20th century actor on Earth. In 1953, he co-starred as the character Jack Wilson in the American Western film Shane.

Nog witnessed Palance's performance as Jack Wilson when the Ferengi viewed Shane while staying with Vic Fontaine on Deep Space 9's holosuite. (DS9: "It's Only a Paper Moon")

The brief clips from Shane that appeared in this episode featured shots of Palance as Jack Wilson. Palance himself earned an Oscar nomination for his role in the film. The film also featured Elisha Cook, Jr.
Palance, a gruff veteran actor perhaps best-known for his Oscar-winning role in the 1991 film City Slickers, was going to play Chancellor Gorkon in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, but had to turn down the role due to scheduling conflicts with his work on City Slickers. The role ultimately went to David Warner (who had appeared with Palance in a 2001 documentary entitled The Omen Legacy).
Born Volodymyr Palanyuk in 1919, Palance died of natural causes in 2006.
