[[de:Ja'chuq]]

Revision as of 04:21, 7 June 2014

The ja'chuq is a Klingon ceremony performed by candidates during the Rite of Succession. In the ja'chuq, each challenger lists the battles they've won, the prizes they've taken, etc. to demonstrate their worthiness to lead the Empire. Considered obsolete in modern times, the ja'chuq could take days to complete.

Captain Jean-Luc Picard, as the Arbiter of Succession, revived the ja'chuq in 2367 to delay the completion of the Rite of Succession, until it could be determined whether Gowron or Duras was responsible for an assassination attempt at K'mpec's Sonchi ceremony. (TNG: "Reunion")
