Woodward's cover for Turnaround, Part II

James Kenneth "J.K." Woodward (born 19 August 1970; age 53) is a comic book artist. He started his art career painting in Los Angeles and received an offer from a German record producer to provide album covers. No albums were ever released, but Woodward self-published a comic book based on the concept.

Some work doing artwork for Michael Colbert's Crazy Mary stories with Digital Webbing caught the eye of IDW Publishing, and they brought him on board to do art for their 2005 miniseries CSI: NY – Bloody Murder. Later that year, he connected with Peter David and became the primary artist on the second Fallen Angel series, providing all of the cover art and interior art for every issue in the series. He has also worked with Marvel Comics on their X-Men Mythos: Beast comic.

Woodward contributed to IDW's Star Trek line, providing a color assist on "Year Four, Issue 6" and an alternate cover for Peter David's "Turnaround, Part II". He then worked on the Klingons issue of the second series of Alien Spotlight written by Keith R.A. DeCandido.

In 2012, Woodward painted the first three issues of IDW's crossover comic Star Trek: The Next Generation - Doctor Who: Assimilation², and on subsequent issues he was credited as coloring Gordon Purcell's pencilling. In 2014, he was the artist for Star Trek: Harlan Ellison's The City on the Edge of Forever, and in 2015, he was a cover artist for "Star Trek - Green Lantern: The Spectrum War Issue 4".

In 2017 he illustrated the interior and main cover art for the Star Trek: The Next Generation - Mirror Broken miniseries. Woodward has since begun creating his own comic book series, entitled Behemoth, [1] which he says is "a sort of a 'transformation body horror' type of thing." [2]
