Iota Geminorum was the primary of the Iota Geminorum planetary system. A planet in this system, Iota Geminorum IV, was the homeworld for the tribble, a non-sentient species. (DS9: "The Nagus")
This star was mentioned only on a background graphic featured in Keiko O'Brien's schoolroom on Deep Space 9.
Star Trek: Star Charts, page 64, also suggested that this was the parent star of the tribble homeworld.
