An insect is a type of lifeform. They have an exoskeleton, a body separated into three sections, and six legs. The study of insects is called entomology.

Background

The Borg were initially conceived of by Maurice Hurley as a race of insects, but were changed to the more budget-friendly cyborgs that went on to become so famous.
