An industrial replicator is a large-scale replicator, typically used for construction purposes.
The Federation Council gave Bajor two class-four industrial (CFI) replicators following the Cardassian withdrawal in 2369, to assist in the rebuilding of that planet.
Following the Klingon invasion of 2372, the Detapa Council petitioned the Federation for a shipment of CFIs to help restore the shattered industrial base on dozens of worlds. A shipment of twelve CFIs was approved, and sent to Deep Space 9 for final delivery.
