The Idran system was a star system located 4.7234 light years away from the terminus of the Bajoran wormhole in the Gamma Quadrant, seventy thousand light years from Bajor. It was a trinary system consisting of a central supergiant star (FGC 1215) and twin spectral class O-type companions, with no M-class planets. The main star was Idran.
The Federation obtained its first data of this star system with the 22nd century interstellar Quadros-1 probe. A hydrogen-alpha spectral analysis was among the scans performed on the system. This analysis was later used to identify the system when the USS Rio Grande entered the Gamma Quadrant. (DS9: "Emissary")
Doctor Julian Bashir pointed out the Idran system to Kai Opaka during her trip through the Bajoran wormhole in 2369. (DS9: "Battle Lines")
