Ice skates (or skates) were footwear worn when participating in activities on sheets of ice. They were used to glide across the ice.

Lyndsay Ballard wore ice skates when ice skating. She asked Harry Kim to join her in some skating on the holodeck in 2376. (VOY: "Ashes to Ashes")

Tom Paris had a hockey holoprogram aboard the USS Voyager that he and Kim often participated in. (VOY: "Ashes to Ashes", "Critical Care")
