The Voyager-Borg conflict was a five-year period from 2373-2378 during which the USS Voyager was attacked by the Borg Collective. The conflict which was engaged by the Federation starship USS Voyager and the Borg Collective when the starship entered Borg space in 2373, (VOY: "Scorpion"). Voyager also helped to begin an insurrection against the Borg known as Unimatrix Zero. (VOY: "Unimatrix Zero" , "Unimatrix Zero, Part II"). It can be greatly presumed that due to these major conflicts and the death of the Borg Queen (VOY: "Endgame part II"), by the time Voyager left the Delta Quadrant the entire Borg collective maybe have well and truely been destroyed once and for all.

Beginning of conflict

Voyager's original plan was to go around Borg space, trying to evade the collective however this failed and the ship engaged the Borg several times. Until they came to an agreement to help each other fight off a much greater threat of Species 8472. The Borg in turn decide to send "Seven of Nine" to represent them and discuss the situation with Captain Janeway. The Captain learned from Seven that the alien's species was only trying to defend themselves from being assimilated and in retaliation launched a war against the collective. With the help of Seven of Nine, Voyager successfully escaped and made it out of Borg space. However several Borg drones were still on Voyager including the former Human Seven of Nine.

Seven of Nine

Seven of Nine as Borg, 2374

Seven of Nine as a Borg drone

Seven of Nine, born Annika Hansen, was assimilated by the Borg collective at the age of six. Her parents were sent to study the Borg however they were captured along with their daughter Annika and they were assimilated, they are presumed to be the first humans to be assimilated by the Borg. Seventeen years later Captain Janeway and her crew entered Borg space and began a futile attempt to beat off the Borg and escape, although the Borg and Voyager faced a much greater threat in "Species 8472" to negotiate the Borg send Seven of Nine the former Annika Hansen on their behalf. All went well and the temporary alliance was achieved. Voyager left Borg space with several Borg including Seven of Nine still on board. Plans and agreements failed and Seven of Nine and the other Borg drones attempted to seize the ship from Janeway. In the process, all Borg were killed except Seven of Nine and she was severed from the Hive mind. Immediately her re-humanization began and her body began to reject the Borg implants and her Borg cellular structures, this forced the doctor to remove the Borg implants on her body to allow her human structures to regain control of her. Seven of Nine accepted her humanity and began life as a crewman aboard Voyager, greatly effecting future encounters with the Borg and thus giving strong confidence to the crew.

Advantages

With Seven of Nine a crew member now and also former drone she was able to help the Voyager crew in future incounters with the Borg by using her extensive knowledge and Borg technology. She assimilated decks and major parts of the ship, the technology proved to work much more better with the Borg technology and hence it was left alone. She also helped to create anti-adapt weapons so that Borg drones were unable to adapt to the weapon's fire.
