The Great Sages were what Arridor and Kol called themselves when they landed on Takar II and conned the primitive Takarians into thinking they were gods. That accomplished this because the takarians had never seen a replicator before and were so amazed they assumed the Ferengi were gods. Arridor took pleasure telling Takarians such as Kafar that Kol was the "Lesser Sage." (VOY: False Profits)
