A holo-recording was a feature used on Starfleet vessels to record an image of a person and project it.

In 2376, Kes time traveled back to 2371 and nearly gave the USS Voyager and its crew to the Vidiians. To prevent Kes from time traveling a second time, Captain Kathryn Janeway had Kes make a holo-recording, which was replayed to Kes five years later in Voyager's engine room, telling her to cease her malevolent ways.
