Hippocrates was a 5th century BC Greek-born physician known as Earth's "Father of Medicine". He developed an oath of medical ethics that was later known as the Hippocratic Oath and is taken by physicians as they begin their medical practice.

In 2152, when explaining the difference between Denobulan and Human medical ethics, Dr. Phlox stated "Hippocrates wasn't Denobulan". (ENT: "The Breach")
